Safety on the River

Everyone is expected to:
Take responsibility for their own safety and the safety of others affected by their actions.
Read, understand and follow the Safety Plan.
Read, understand and abide by all the Safety Rules.
All rowers must comply with the Tideway code when taking part in any water based activity. Please familiarise yourself with the code HERE.
The Port of London Authority has a flag system in place to indicate the speed and strength of the river’s current to users, which is updated daily at 06:00 and 18:00. Everyone who uses the Barn Elms facilities must follow the safety requirements and navigation rules when rowing from the Boathouse. The river safety rules apply to both users on a course and recreational rowers. More information on the flag system can be found here.

Welfare & Safeguarding
As a British Rowing affiliated club, we adhere to the British Rowing safeguarding policy. Any Welfare or safeguarding concerns should be directed to our club welfare officer, Josh Lino-da Costa on jlino-dacosta@enablelc.org.
